The Western District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Dnipro has completed a pre-trial investigation against the organizer and three accomplices who were exposed for illegal logging in the Kamianskyi district. 

The indictment was sent to court on the fact of illegal logging of forests committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, which entailed grave consequences (Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the accused were looking in advance for areas of protective and other forest plantations located away from roads. In the future, the "lumberjacks" cut down trees without any permits or logging tickets, after which they transported the wood to the so-called warehouse and sold it.

Environmental prosecutors found that for the period from November 2025 to April 2026, their actions caused losses to the state in the amount of almost UAH 3 million.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region, operational support was carried out by the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Dnipropetrovsk region and the Dnipropetrovsk Department of the State Security Service of the National Police.

Note: according to Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his/her guilt is legally proven and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
