In the Kyiv region, three servicemen were informed of suspicion of appropriation of fuel

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Central Region, together with the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigations located in Kyiv, with the operational support of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine, the Department of Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine, and with the assistance of the Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, has reported suspicion against three military personnel for committing a criminal offense under Part 4 of Article 410 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation of military property).

It has been established that officials of a military unit in Kyiv region organized a scheme for the misappropriation of diesel fuel. They deliberately inflated the consumption norms, resulting in "excess" reserves that were not recorded in the documents. This fuel was accumulated by the military personnel and then illegally used or sold.

During June to September 2025, the military personnel illegally exported over 27 thousand liters of diesel fuel (22.9 tons) from the territory of the military unit. They sold it to civilians for 23.5 thousand US dollars. To conceal the scheme, they changed the license plates on the tank trucks, dressed civilian drivers in military uniforms, and used forged documents at the checkpoint.

The perpetrators have been exposed and detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

The prosecution has submitted a motion to the court for the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention for all three suspects; however, the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of house arrest. This decision is currently being appealed.

The sanction for the incriminated article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of ten to fifteen years.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
