Prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office are conducting procedural leadership in a criminal proceeding regarding a group of individuals who organized a full cycle of production and sale of counterfeit food products under the guise of well-known brand goods.

During the pre-trial investigation, conducted jointly with detectives from the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Kyiv region, it was established that the counterfeit products were manufactured in underground workshops, in unsuitable and unsanitary conditions. The production of packaging, labeling, and copying the design of well-known trademarks also took place there. The finished counterfeit products were supplied to retail stores and markets.

During large-scale searches, law enforcement seized over 180,000 units of counterfeit goods: flakes, canned goods, condensed milk, and other products. Additionally, equipment for packaging, printed materials, raw materials, rough notes, financial documents, technology, and vehicles were confiscated.

Representatives of the trademarks confirmed that the seized products are counterfeit and illegally use their trademarks. The estimated value of the seized goods and materials is over 20 million UAH.

The pre-trial investigation continues on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal use of a trademark for goods and services that caused material damage in particularly large amounts. All involved persons are being identified.
