From 2020 to 2023, four individuals, holding managerial positions or temporarily performing the duties of forest enterprise directors, unjustifiably issued logging tickets. This allowed for large-scale illegal logging in age-diverse and mixed forest plantations.

As a result of these actions, over 9,500 trees were destroyed. The preliminary environmental damage is estimated at more than 42 million hryvnias.

Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office have notified all four officials of their suspicion. They are charged with exceeding official powers by law enforcement officers and illegal logging that caused severe consequences (Part 3 of Article 365, Part 4 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, the issue of choosing preventive measures for them is being resolved. 

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in Lviv under the supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office. 

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and confirmed by a guilty verdict of the court.
