The deputy commander of the military unit was exposed in Lviv region, who involved subordinates in the performance of private works

Prosecutors, together with investigators from the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR), uncovered the deputy commander of one of the military units in Lviv region, who used military personnel for private repair and construction work.


According to the investigation, from March to September 2025, the official directed subordinates to lay paving stones at sites in one of the territorial communities in Lviv region, where hired workers from a company, whose director is his acquaintance, were supposed to work.


At the same time, it was revealed that during his vacation, the deputy commander involved three subordinates in carrying out repair work at his own house in Vinnytsia region, as well as in installing monuments at the graves of his parents.


Meanwhile, the military personnel continued to receive monetary compensation at their place of service. The amount of damage caused to the state budget is being determined within the framework of a forensic economic examination.


Under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Western region, the suspect has been notified of suspicion for exceeding the authority or official powers by a military official (part 5 of Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).


At the request of the prosecutors, the man has been chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention with the right to post bail of over 1 million hryvnias. In addition, the military has been suspended from performing official duties. The investigation into his involvement in similar illegal activities is ongoing.


The pre-trial investigation and operational support are conducted by the DBR in Lviv.
