In the Nikolaev area the existenter of the service of fuel and lubricants was detained on suspicion of appropriation of property of the Armed Forces in the amount of more than UAH 24 million

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Southern region, a former head of the fuel and lubricants service of a military unit has been detained. He has been notified of suspicion for embezzlement of military property and negligent attitude towards service (Part 3 of Article 410, Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, from 2020 to 2025, the suspect received fuel for the needs of the military unit but did not deliver it to the warehouse. To conceal the scheme, he provided false information about the movement of property, prepared documents with violations, or did not prepare them at all.

The embezzled fuel was disposed of at the former official's discretion, which led to the loss of over 650 tons of a strategically important resource for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The state suffered damages amounting to over 24 million UAH.

The court has chosen a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 450,000 UAH.

Measures are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the crime. Steps are being taken to recover the damages inflicted on the state.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the First Department of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Mykolaiv, with operational support from the Operational Unit of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Mykolaiv and the Department of Military Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
