In the Nikolaev area prosecutors returned to the state property of the Vidiysky reservoir

Prosecutors of the Bashtanka District Prosecutor's Office ensured the return of the Yavkinske Reservoir, covering an area of 105 hectares, to state ownership, which is of strategic importance for irrigating agricultural lands.

It was established that in 2024, the Bashtanka Interdistrict Water Management Authority illegally transferred a land plot along with the water body to a company under the guise of a contract for "optimizing the hydrological condition" for the purpose of fish farming and fishing. This led to evasion of mandatory payments for the use of water bodies; risks to the sanitary condition of the water body; and restrictions on citizens' rights to free access to the reservoir for fishing and recreation.

Prosecutors filed a lawsuit in court in the interests of the state to declare the mentioned contract invalid. However, the courts of first and appellate instances denied the prosecutor's claims.

The Supreme Court, as part of the Economic Court of Cassation, supported the cassation appeal of the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office and granted the prosecutor's lawsuit.

In July 2025, the court's decision was executed – the company returned the land plot and the reservoir to the state. From now on, they are again managed by the state represented by the Bashtanka District State Administration, and the permanent user has been designated as the Ingulec River Canals Administration.
