In Poltava region, a local resident was convicted of life imprisonment, who brutally killed and seized the property
17.09.2025
According to the appeal of the prosecutors of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office, a resident of the village of Hradizk in the Kremenchuk district has been sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of property for the intentional murder of two individuals for selfish motives and robbery committed under martial law (paragraphs 1, 6 of part 2 of Article 115, part 4 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
At the end of 2021, the man borrowed one thousand euros from acquaintances and did not return the money for almost a year.
In October 2022, the man went to his acquaintances, where a conflict erupted over the debt. During the quarrel, the perpetrator, using a knife and a bat, took the lives of the homeowner and his wife. According to expert conclusions, he inflicted at least 51 blows on the couple.
After ensuring that the victims were dead, the attacker entered the house, seized over 170,000 UAH, and rode a motorcycle to Kropyvnytskyi, where he purchased a car with part of the stolen money.
The perpetrator was detained a few days later in Transcarpathia. He did not admit his guilt in the committed crime.
The Globyn District Court sentenced the man to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Due to the leniency of the imposed sentence, the prosecutors appealed the verdict of the first instance court to the Poltava Court of Appeal, which agreed with the prosecutors' arguments.
Currently, the court's decision has entered into legal force, but it is not final, as it can be appealed in cassation.
