An official of the regional state administration and four heads of enterprises have been notified of suspicion of misappropriating someone else's property by abusing their official position (Part 4, 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, from June to November 2023, the official, abusing their official position, organized the procurement of quadcopters, thermal binoculars, radios, and other military property at deliberately inflated prices. Four heads of commercial structures were involved in the implementation of the criminal scheme, preparing fictitious commercial offers and contracts.

As a result, funds allocated from the regional budget to enhance the defense capability of the region were transferred to the accounts of controlled companies, and the official received 2.5% from each purchase as an unlawful benefit in the form of a "kickback."

According to the conclusion of a comprehensive forensic commodity and economic examination, the state suffered losses totaling approximately 9.5 million UAH.

Currently, the official has been placed in custody, while the four accomplices have been placed under house arrest at night.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Poltava region with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Poltava region. The prosecutorial oversight is provided by the Poltava Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Central region.
