In Poltava Oblast, two underage sisters died as a result of a road accident. A law enforcement officer was driving the car

On the evening of November 30, in the city of Karlivka, a police officer driving his own car, a "Hyundai Tucson," ran over two 17-year-old sisters who were walking along the roadside. Both children died at the scene from their injuries.

The law enforcement officer fled the scene but soon returned. According to preliminary data, he shows signs of alcohol intoxication.

A pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding the incident under part 4 of Article 286-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules by a person driving a vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in the death of several individuals).

The procedural guidance is being carried out by juvenile prosecutors of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office, with investigative actions conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations in the city of Poltava.

The group of procedural leaders is headed by the head of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office, Yevhen Hladiy. The police officer has been detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The police have initiated an internal investigation.
