Under the procedural guidance of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, former and current heads of the board of an open joint-stock company in the gas supply sector have been notified of suspicion. Their illegal actions caused losses to the state enterprise amounting to over 138 million UAH.

The investigation established that in January 2023, due to debts for consumed natural gas, the mentioned company was excluded from the balancing group and deprived of the opportunity to receive resources from the state supplier.

Despite this, from June to November 2023, the suspects, acting contrary to the requirements of the law and without signing new supply contracts, carried out unauthorized extraction of natural gas from the gas transportation system. The total volume of illegally used resources amounted to 6.7 million cubic meters.

As a result of the conducted forensic economic examination, it was established that the state, represented by the state enterprise, suffered losses amounting to 138 million 586 thousand UAH.

The actions of the suspects have been qualified under part 2 of Article 364-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power by an official of a legal entity of private law).

Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the National Police with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in the manner prescribed by law and confirmed by a guilty verdict of the court.
