Under the procedural guidance of the Rivne Regional Prosecutor's Office, in October, three residents of the Sarny district were notified of suspicion in crimes related to the illegal trafficking of amber.

According to the investigation, two brothers and another acquaintance organized a scheme for illegal enrichment. From July 2024 to February 2025, they purchased illegally mined stones, sorted them by fractions (size), stored them in their households, and then resold them to buyers.

During searches, almost 450 kg of amber was seized from the offenders. Its value, according to the results of the examination, exceeds 1.3 million UAH. The seized stones have been placed under arrest. 

The actions of the suspects have been classified as the acquisition, transportation, storage for the purpose of sale, and sale of amber, the legality of which is not confirmed by relevant documents, committed repeatedly and by prior conspiracy of a group of individuals (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1, Part 2 of Article 240-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Rivne region, with operational support from the employees of the Main Department of the National Police in the region.
