A spy from Russia was exposed in the Rivne region

With the approval of the head of the Rivne Regional Prosecutor's Office, a citizen of the Russian Federation has been notified of suspicion for transferring and collecting information with the intent to pass it to a foreign organization that constitutes a state secret (Part 1 of Article 114 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, a 27-year-old Russian arrived in Ukraine back in 2020, allegedly opposing the current regime and the policies of the President of Russia. However, in reality, all this time the hostile spy was in contact with employees of the FSB of the Russian Federation.

Last year, under the pretext of assisting the Armed Forces of Ukraine in their confrontation with the enemy, he established contact and gained the trust of a serviceman from the Special Operations Forces and began gathering information that constitutes a state secret.

Thus, at the end of December last year, the suspect began to show interest in materials regarding the intelligence network operating in the interests of Ukraine and conducting special operations on the territory of the aggressor state.

The spy was detained in February while he was photographing documents marked with the classification "Top Secret."

The court has chosen a preventive measure for the Russian spy in the form of detention.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Rivne region, with operational support from the military counterintelligence of the security agency.

Note. According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court verdict.
