Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Okhtyrka District Prosecutor's Office, two men were found guilty of organizing the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
By the court's verdict, each of them was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of 2 years, along with the confiscation of property.
The prosecutor proved in court that at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, acting in collusion, the accused organized a channel for the transportation of individuals from Ukraine to the territory of the Russian Federation for a monetary reward.
In particular, on May 4, 2022, they brought three residents of the Kharkiv region to the Okhtyrka district, where they were well-acquainted with the local terrain and thus knew how to cross the border on foot, bypassing the established checkpoints. However, the men were unable to cross into the neighboring state, as they and the accompanying individuals were detained by border guards.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Okhtyrka District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region.
