In Sumy region, law enforcement officers warned the custom murder of a girl who, through jealousy, planned her former cohabitant

The First Deputy Head of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, Oleksandr Korshun, in September 2025, announced the suspicion of a detainee for preparing to commit intentional murder, carried out on commission (part 1 of article 14, paragraph 11, part 2 of article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

At the request of the investigator and the prosecutor, the court decided to impose a preventive measure in the form of detention.

According to the investigation, a 26-year-old native of the Konotop district began searching for a killer who would murder his ex-girlfriend for 10 thousand US dollars. This information became known to law enforcement, and all subsequent actions took place under their control.

After finding a "performer," the suspect provided him with a photograph of the "victim" and detailed her lifestyle to facilitate the execution of the task. He also paid an advance of 15 thousand UAH. He promised to pay the remaining amount after her murder, preferably by the most brutal method.

A few days later, after receiving photographs of her body, the client handed the performer 10 thousand US dollars. At that moment, he was detained by law enforcement.

According to the victim, she had been living with her partner for about 5 years. When the full-scale war began, she refused to move with him to another country and also did not want to continue their relationship, which she informed him about more than a year ago. However, he had been terrorizing her and threatening her with violence all this time.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region, based on materials from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine, with the assistance of the operational department of the State Institution "Sumy Detention Center," under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.

Note: According to part 1 of article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
