In Sumy region, a serviceman was sentenced to 5 years in prison for receiving undue benefit, disclosure of military information and sales of ammunition circulation

Under the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Sumy Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Central region, a law enforcement officer has been found guilty of committing criminal offenses as provided for in part 1 of Article 368, part 2 of Article 114-2, and part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It was established that during the years 2022-2024, the serviceman, while serving as an inspector, acted with direct intent aimed at the illegal acquisition of ammunition for the purpose of their further sale, unlawfully acquired ammunition of various calibers and hand grenades with fuses, which he stored at his place of residence.
In September and December 2024, he sold ammunition to a civilian on two occasions, receiving 20,000 UAH for this.
In addition, the perpetrator systematically provided a third party with restricted access information regarding the location, movement, and routes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service, as well as about conducting aerial reconnaissance in the border zone.
In December 2024, the convicted individual, for personal enrichment, using his official position, requested an unlawful benefit of 40,000 UAH for the systematic transfer of this information.
As a result of coordinated actions by law enforcement agencies, the individual was identified and detained.
The court agreed with the position of the prosecution, taking into account the severity of the committed criminal offenses and all the circumstances of the case.
By the verdict of the Hlukhiv City District Court of the Sumy region, the serviceman was found guilty and sentenced for the totality of the committed criminal offenses to imprisonment for a term of 5 years, with deprivation of the right to hold positions related to the performance of organizational and administrative duties for a period of up to 1 year.
Until the verdict takes legal effect, the convicted individual will remain in custody.
The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Poltava.
