The Deputy Head of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, Volodymyr Filonov, as the senior member of the juvenile prosecutors' group, reported the suspicion against a 57-year-old resident of the Zhmerinka district, who repeatedly raped his underage granddaughter.

The man's actions have been classified under parts 4 and 6 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – the rape of a person under the age of fourteen, committed repeatedly.

The suspect took advantage of the child's trust in a family member. When she came to his home, the man committed illegal acts against his granddaughter.

The suspect has been detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

At the request of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail has been chosen by the investigating judge of the Zhmerinka city district court.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by juvenile investigators of the Zhmerinka District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Vinnytsia region, together with juvenile investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in the Vinnytsia region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
