According to preliminary data, on the evening of July 22, 2025, an accident involving a Mirage-2000 fighter jet occurred during a training flight near the city of Lutsk. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot reported a failure of the electronic equipment. Thanks to his professional actions, he managed to divert the aircraft to an uninhabited marshy area and ejected.

The aircraft fell in an area where there are no residential buildings. There are no casualties or injuries on the ground. The pilot was promptly located by the search and rescue service, and his condition is stable.

Currently, a set of urgent investigative (search) and procedural actions is being carried out. Law enforcement has already conducted an examination of the crash site, seized official documentation, interrogated witnesses, and appointed a number of expert examinations. A service investigation has been initiated.

Under the procedural guidance of the Volyn Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, a criminal proceeding has been initiated under part 2 of Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. 

Prosecutors, together with investigators from the State Bureau of Investigations, are taking all measures to fully, comprehensively, and objectively clarify the circumstances of the incident.
