Under the procedural guidance of the Volyn Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding the death of a serviceman-border guard. The preliminary legal qualification is part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (intentional murder marked as "suicide").

According to the investigation, on September 2 at approximately 11:00 AM, law enforcement received a report that a 36-year-old serviceman, who was on duty as part of the border patrol, was found lifeless in the village of Rivne in the Kovel district. The deceased was holding a service weapon in his hand.

The scene has been examined, possible witnesses have been interviewed, and items that may have evidential significance have been seized. A forensic medical examination and a weapon examination have been appointed. All circumstances of the tragedy are being established.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Lviv Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation.
