Under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office, a participant of the illegal armed formation "State Security Service of Kherson Region" has been identified and notified of suspicion in absentia for committing treason, participating in the activities of an illegal armed formation, and cruel treatment of civilians (Part 2 of Article 111, Part 2 of Article 260, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the suspect, while in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, participated in illegal imprisonments and torture of pro-Ukrainian activists and opponents of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. 

In late August 2022, he, together with other individuals, detained a resident of Kherson. Subsequently, the man was imprisoned in one of the torture chambers organized in the basement of a seized office building in the city center. On one of the days of detention, the suspect and his accomplices interrogated the victim, applying physical and psychological violence to force him to provide the information they needed.

In addition, the person was held in an unsuitable room, in unsanitary conditions, without food and water.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kherson region, with operational support from the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine in the region.
