According to the investigation, a police lieutenant colonel demanded 14,000 US dollars in unlawful benefits from a local resident who is wanted for administrative violations related to military registration. The senior investigator of the regional police department promised to influence the officials of the medical institution in the region to make a decision regarding the assignment of a disability group to the wanted man for the specified amount of money.

Today, during the receipt of part of the agreed amount of unlawful benefits in the amount of 4,000 US dollars, the police officer was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

He has been informed of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

A motion is also being prepared to choose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention and removal from office.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Under the procedural guidance of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office, the investigation in the case is being conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation located in the city of Khmelnytskyi.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
