The organizer is a 27-year-old native of Svalyava, previously convicted multiple times for various property crimes. Currently, a case against him is being heard in court for participating in a criminal gathering (meeting).
According to the investigation materials, he personally sought out clients and connected them with an accomplice who organized the entire process while on the outside. The cost of such services ranged from 5,000 to 8,000 US dollars.
On September 11, law enforcement officers detained a 45-year-old woman in Berehove while she was receiving 6,200 US dollars from a "client" for organizing illegal transportation to Hungary. On the same day, a search was conducted in the detainee's cell, and a mobile phone was seized, which he used to organize the criminal scheme.
Both suspects are charged with organizing the illegal transportation of individuals across the state border of Ukraine committed by a group of individuals in collusion for selfish motives (Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). At the prosecutor's request, the woman has been taken into custody with an alternative bail of 242,000 UAH. The prosecution will appeal the preventive measure regarding the amount of bail set by the court as too low and not corresponding to the severity of the crime and the existing risks.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region under the procedural guidance of the Transcarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office. Operational measures were carried out with the participation of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police, servicemen of the 27th Border Detachment named after the Heroes of the Carpathian Sich of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, and with the assistance of the operational unit of the Transcarpathian Correctional Facility No. 9.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
