Prosecutors of the Transcarpathian Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Western region, together with employees of the State Bureau of Investigations, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the internal security of the State Border Guard Service, uncovered an official of a special law enforcement agency who organized the illegal transportation of conscripts across the state border outside official checkpoints.
According to the investigation, the serviceman was searching for men willing to leave Ukraine during the war for money and committed to providing information about routes to bypass border patrols, the location of rapid response groups, places of video surveillance camera installations, and other technical control means. He valued his services at 500 US dollars per person.
While receiving 2 thousand US dollars from four "clients," the law enforcement officer was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was informed of the suspicion of receiving unlawful benefits by a public official and organizing the illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine (Part 1 of Article 368 and Part 3 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Currently, prosecutors have submitted a motion to the court for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect. The issue of his suspension from the position he holds is being resolved. Other individuals involved in the functioning of the illegal scheme are being identified.
Note: The sanctions of the articles provide for imprisonment for up to 9 years.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
