From 2021 to 2024, a network of illegal gambling websites operated in Ukraine under the brand "Pin-Up," which worked without the necessary permits. The investigation established connections between the company and representatives of the Russian Federation, sanctioned individuals, and confirmed its financing of the aggressor country's budget, support for military actions against Ukraine, tax evasion, and the collection of information about the players themselves.
It is also known that the funds obtained from the online casino's activities were legalized through licensed payments (royalties).
As part of the investigation, one of the suspects reached a deal with the prosecution. He provided testimony against the organizers, admitted his guilt, and entered into a plea agreement, which allowed for the largest special confiscation to be collected for the budget during Ukraine's independence.
As a result, at the request of the prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, assets worth over 2.6 billion hryvnias were seized, which are currently under the management of ARMA. These funds are planned to be used for the purchase of domestic government bonds "Military Bonds."
The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv approved the agreement and found the convicted individual guilty under Part 4 of Article 111-1, Part 3 of Article 255, Part 3 of Article 212, Part 3 of Article 209, and Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with a probation period of 3 years.
Additionally, we inform you that within the framework of the mentioned criminal proceedings, prosecutors also notified the Head and one of the members of the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries, as well as the direct owners of the online casino, of their suspicions.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the State Bureau of Investigation with operational support from the Territorial Administration of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kyiv.
