In the autumn of 2024, a citizen of the Russian Federation, who has lived in Sloviansk for over 30 years, agreed to the proposal of the commander of a motorized rifle brigade of the 1st Army Corps of the "DPR" to gather intelligence on the Defense Forces in the northern part of the region. 

He met with a representative of the enemy army on Telegram, where for almost 8 months he provided details about the presence of Ukrainian servicemen in the city. He shared his observations about the situation in the surrounding villages and noted the locations of civilian infrastructure facilities.

At the same time, a resident of Kramatorsk also began working for the enemy. He was recruited for confidential cooperation through the Russian social network "Odnoklassniki." The requester of the intelligence data turned out to be a member of the reconnaissance assault battalion of the special forces of the "DPR." Key landmarks for his agent included checkpoints at the entrances and exits of the city, fortified areas, and the locations of mobile fire groups of the air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

While carrying out the tasks of his curator, the Kramatorsk resident disclosed the locations of Ukrainian defenders. The fact that his actions endangered the civilian population did not stop him, as his information could be used by the enemy to carry out missile and air strikes on the city. 

The illegal actions of the men were uncovered and halted. Prosecutors of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office have informed one of them of suspicion for unauthorized dissemination of information about the placement of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (part 3 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and the other for treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, the suspects have been placed in custody as a preventive measure. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
