The owner of a household appliances store chain in 2023–2024 deliberately understated her income in declarations to remain on a simplified taxation system (2nd group) and avoid paying the full single tax. As a result, the budget lost nearly 2 million hryvnias.

An indictment under Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (official forgery) has been sent to court by the Chernivtsi Regional Prosecutor's Office.

During the investigation, the woman fully repaid the debt — the funds have already been returned to the state budget.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by detectives of the Territorial Department of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Chernivtsi region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
