Prosecutors of the Kyiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Central Region have submitted indictments to the court against the commander of one of the military units for negligent performance of military duties (Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and his deputy for intentional non-fulfillment of actions that a military official was required to perform according to their official duties (Part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

It has been established that in August-September 2024, the deputy commander prepared and submitted false information in reports regarding the payment of an additional monetary reward of 30,000 UAH concerning the participation of 19 servicemen of the unit in combat (special) missions. In fact, during the specified period, they were not involved in the execution of such tasks.

Subsequently, the commander failed to ensure proper oversight and signed the submitted reports. Based on these documents, an additional reward of nearly 900,000 UAH was unjustifiably accrued and paid to the latter.

Through these actions, the accused caused material damage to the state in the specified amount, which was fully reimbursed during the pre-trial investigation.

The commander of the military unit faces a punishment of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years, while his deputy faces imprisonment for a term of seven to ten years.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support were carried out by the Territorial Office of the State Bureau of Investigations located in the city of Kyiv.
