Shelling of Poltava and Kharkiv: prosecutors document the consequences of hostile attacks

On the night of October 7, 2025, the Russian army carried out further attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure, using strike drones. Damage to infrastructure facilities, private buildings, and enterprises was recorded in the Poltava region and Kharkiv. The prosecutor's office and law enforcement agencies continue their systematic work to document war crimes committed by Russia. All collected evidence will be used to hold the guilty parties accountable.

Poltava Region

At night, the Russian armed forces attacked the railway infrastructure of the Poltava region with strike drones. As a result of the hits and falling debris, an administrative building, other premises, locomotives, electric locomotives, an energy facility, as well as a private residential house and an outbuilding were damaged. There are no casualties, and the fires that broke out were promptly localized by the State Emergency Service workers.

Under the procedural guidance of the Poltava Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Security Service of Ukraine in the Poltava region has initiated a pre-trial investigation in two criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (committing a war crime).

Kharkiv Region

That same night, Russian troops struck the Nemishlyansky district of Kharkiv, using at least 25 Shahed-2 drones. As a result of the attack, a civilian enterprise was damaged. There are no casualties.

Under the procedural guidance of the Nemishlyansky District Prosecutor's Office of Kharkiv, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated regarding the commission of a war crime (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
