Obtaining an improper benefit for influencing military service decisions — suspicion reported

Under the procedural guidance of the Obolon District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, a man has been exposed who offered assistance to a conscripted individual in avoiding mobilization for money.
Initially, he promised to help the man find a job where he could obtain a reservation. Later, he proposed another option — to arrange for the man to serve in a rear military unit in Brovary without being involved in combat missions for $12,000.
As an advance for his services, the man requested $7,000, and another $5,000 was to be paid after the arrangement for service was completed.
During the receipt of $7,000, the suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
His actions have been classified as obtaining unlawful benefits for himself and third parties by influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with extortion, committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy (Part 2 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Other individuals involved in the commission of the criminal offense are being identified.
The suspect has been chosen to be held in custody with the right to post bail in the amount of 832,000 UAH.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Obolon District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv with operational support from the Department of Internal Security of the National Police of Ukraine.
The penalty under the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
