The Prosecutor General's Office will appeal the acquittal of a Russian serviceman in the case of violating the laws and customs of war

The prosecution insisted during the court debates on recognizing the serviceman of the armed forces of the Russian Federation as guilty and sentencing him to 10 years of imprisonment. However, on October 30, the Borodyanka District Court issued an acquittal for the accused.

We do not agree with this verdict, as we believe that the evidence collected clearly indicates the commission of a war crime by the accused. The state has an obligation to ensure the inevitability of responsibility for crimes against Ukraine, and we will use all legal mechanisms available to restore justice,” noted the senior prosecutor in the case, prosecutor of the OGP department, Dmytro Syniuk.
