Organization of illegal border crossing and threat to kill a judge - in Lviv they will be tried by a lawyer

Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court against a lawyer, who is accused of organizing the illegal transportation of a person across the state border of Ukraine and threatening to kill a judge in connection with her activities related to the administration of justice (Part 3 of Article 332, Part 1 of Article 377 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation established that during the state of martial law, the human rights defender promised a conscript that he would organize his unhindered departure abroad for 16,000 US dollars. The essence of the criminal scheme was to produce fake documents about a non-existent illness of the conscript's mother. Subsequently, based on these documents, as an escort for the "sick" mother for her supposed treatment, the man was to leave Ukraine.

The lawyer was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving part of the funds – 5,000 US dollars.

It was also established that the accused threatened to kill the judge for finding him guilty of driving a vehicle while intoxicated. The lawyer sent threats of retribution to the judge via private messages on his phone.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
