Thanks to the coordinated interaction of Ukrainian law enforcement and competent authorities of the United Arab Emirates, a suspect in organizing a large-scale fraudulent scheme for the sale of quadcopters and their components allegedly for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been extradited to Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation, under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, established that from June to October 2023, an organized group of individuals created a scheme of systematic fraudulent actions. Taking advantage of the high demand for technical means of aerial reconnaissance for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the accomplices seized funds from citizens and benefactors under the pretext of selling drones.
The investigation has identified 108 victims in 99 episodes of criminal activity. The total amount of damages exceeds 50 million UAH.
In February 2024, prosecutors notified three individuals of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 190 and Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. At the request of the prosecution, one of them was taken into custody, another was placed under round-the-clock house arrest by the court, and the organizer of the scheme was declared wanted internationally.
In June 2025, she was detained in the territory of the United Arab Emirates. She has now been extradited to Ukraine to be held criminally responsible for the committed crimes.
We also inform you that prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General have already sent an indictment against two accomplices to the court. The materials regarding the organizer have been separated into a separate proceeding.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigative Department with operational support from the Department of Criminal Investigation of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
