Prosecutors of the Kamianske District Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court regarding two participants of an organized group for the fact of fraud. 

The group members searched social media for advertisements about missing servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who had gone missing or been captured. They subsequently contacted the relatives of the military through messengers and offered them "assistance" in returning from captivity or receiving treatment. For their "services," the defendants demanded a monetary reward, which the victims transferred to controlled bank cards.

Currently, 23 victims from various regions of Ukraine have been identified. The total amount of damages exceeds 5 million UAH.

The actions of the accused have been qualified under part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face up to twelve years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Kamianske District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Dnipropetrovsk region with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
