Prosecutors of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office reported suspicion against a 40-year-old man for treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

In June 2024, a resident of the village of Vільне in the Kryvyi Rih district established contact with a representative of the FSB of the Russian Federation in one of the Telegram chats. Subsequently, in private correspondence, the suspect began to pass on information that was of interest to the Russian military. 

To gather information, the man communicated with local residents, and he personally surveyed some locations. In particular, he was interested in checkpoints where Ukrainian defenders were stationed, as well as concentrations of military equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine - both within populated areas and in forest belts. He later sent intelligence data to the employee of the Russian special service. In addition, he shared coordinates of the positions of air defense units, recorded the movements of mobile fire groups, and reported on the placement of engineering structures and fortifications. The information he provided concerned the territory of Kryvyi Rih, Kryvyi Rih district, and Kropyvnytskyi district.

The illegal activities of the citizen have been exposed and terminated. At the request of the prosecutors, a preventive measure in the form of detention has been chosen for him.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
