Under the procedural guidance of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, the former head of one of the enterprises of the State Criminal Executive Service has been notified of suspicion regarding the misappropriation of property and official negligence (Part 4 of Article 191, Part 1, 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, from 2018 to 2020, the official entered into contracts for the purchase of granite blocks from private suppliers for a total amount of over 1.7 million UAH. As established by expert evaluations, the actual cost of the goods was significantly lower, resulting in the state enterprise overpaying by more than 270,000 UAH. In addition, the suspect entered into economically disadvantageous contracts involving third-party organizations, even though the enterprise had the capability to extract granite and raw materials using the labor of convicts. This inaction led to a loss of over 9 million UAH in potential profit for the state enterprise.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police in Cherkasy region with operational support from the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is established.
