Planned to blow up a car and rescuers - a Russian agent was sentenced in Mykolaiv

In Mykolaiv, a resident of Odesa has been sentenced to 6 years in prison after being recruited by the Russian special services via “Telegram” in May 2025. 

The man planned two explosions in a residential area: the first improvised explosive device was to be attached to a car in the yard of a building, and the second was to be hidden nearby to detonate after the arrival of law enforcement and rescue services. He was to receive payment for the execution to a cryptocurrency wallet.

Thanks to law enforcement, the terrorist act was prevented. 

On the public prosecution of the prosecutors of the Mykolaiv Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Southern region, the court sentenced the man to 6 years in prison under part 2 of Article 15, part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv region.
