Agreed to work for the enemy for $50: a 21-year-old man was detained

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, a 21-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of committing treason (part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in the fall of 2025, the suspect was recruited via "Telegram" by a representative of hostile intelligence services.

The man photographed and transmitted to him buildings of district state authorities and law enforcement agencies in the Cherkasy region, as well as a military unit and locations of military equipment.

For this, he received a "reward" from the enemy — 50 US dollars. They were transferred to a cryptocurrency wallet.

The suspect was detained in Kyiv. During a search at his temporary residence, law enforcement officers seized a mobile phone and other personal belongings.

He is being held in custody without the right to bail.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support are being carried out by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
