Almost 68 million hryvnias in losses. Embezzled and misappropriated community budgets, private property, poor-quality procurements, inflated prices for contracted works, and bonuses awarded to "insiders," etc.

Prosecutors of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office are documenting systemic manifestations of abuses in the budget sphere and illegal activities against property.

Suspicion has been announced to 22 individuals:

The head of the community, who embezzled almost 1.2 million hryvnias of budget funds for the current and capital repair of community infrastructure facilities.

The head, chief accountant of the community, and a private entrepreneur - for embezzling over half a million hryvnias during the procurement of heat pumps for heating points and educational institutions.

The former head of one of the village councils in the Melitopol district - a current deputy of the village council, who provided false information in the documentation regarding road repair works and allowed the embezzlement of almost 320 thousand hryvnias.

The mayor of one of the cities in the Zaporizhzhia region, who allowed the embezzlement of fuel and lubricants and timber allocated from the regional reserve for community needs. The amount of losses - almost 1 million hryvnias.

The director of a hospital - a deputy of the city council in one of the districts of the region - for embezzling funds of the medical institution through illegal bonuses exceeding 884 thousand hryvnias.

The director of the territorial center for emergency medical care and disaster medicine, who embezzled almost 570 thousand hryvnias when purchasing tires for service vehicles.

The authorized person for procurement at a vocational education institution and 2 contractors, who embezzled almost 1.4 million hryvnias, allocated for the provision of the educational subject "Defense of Ukraine."

The first vice-rector of one of the universities in the Zaporizhzhia region, who embezzled almost 320 thousand hryvnias for the development and implementation of the university's website network.

The former head of a municipal enterprise in the field of road management, who embezzled 1 million hryvnias of budget funds by inflating the cost of services during the implementation and configuration of the enterprise's transport management software.

The director of a contracting company and a technical supervision engineer - for misappropriating budget funds of almost 200 thousand hryvnias during contracted works.

The director of a company that supplied two educational institutions in the Zaporizhzhia region with almost 8 thousand tons of substandard coal at inflated prices. In this way, he embezzled budget funds amounting to 3.5 million hryvnias. And to the deputy directors of the educational rehabilitation center and the sanatorium boarding school, who accepted coal from this commercial structure that did not meet state standards, causing damage to the state.

A deputy of the Kamianske-Dniprovskyi City Council, who, while on the temporarily occupied territory of the Vasylivka district, without the knowledge and consent of the owner, disposed of agricultural products from a farm where he held a managerial position before the full-scale invasion. In cooperation with representatives of the occupation administration, he embezzled almost 24 thousand tons of harvest, causing the enterprise losses exceeding 56 million hryvnias.

The director of a city municipal enterprise, the former director of a state enterprise in the industrial complex, and another contractor are also suspected of misappropriating budget funds totaling 365 thousand hryvnias.

All the mentioned facts have been confirmed within the framework of criminal proceedings. They are being investigated under Articles 191 (Embezzlement, misappropriation of property, or acquisition of it through abuse of office), 364 (Abuse of power or office), 366 (Official forgery), and 367 (Official negligence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Comprehensive measures for uncovering these crimes were carried out by prosecutors of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine.

The procedural leadership is provided by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, the SEP of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, the Shevchenkivskyi and Voznesenskyi District Prosecutor's Offices of Zaporizhzhia, and the Polohy, Melitopol, and Berdiansk District Prosecutor's Offices, as well as the Zaporizhzhia District Prosecutor's Office.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established.
