The Ministry of Defense official was reported suspected of damages to the state for over UAH 322 million

Under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Office of the Prosecutor General, a suspicion has been announced against the acting director of the Department of State Procurement and Supply of Material Resources of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The investigation established that in 2022, the official, violating the requirements of legislation in the field of public procurement, concluded two contracts on behalf of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine for the supply of drinking water for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which were detrimental to the state.
At the same time, he improperly performed his official duties: he did not conduct a market price analysis, did not verify the suppliers' calculations, and did not ensure the principles of economy and efficiency in the use of state funds.
As a result of his actions, the state suffered losses amounting to 322 million hryvnias.
The suspect is charged with a criminal offense under Part 4 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – negligent attitude of a military official to service, which caused severe consequences in conditions of martial law.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the State Bureau of Investigation with operational support from the Main Operational Department of the State Bureau of Investigation.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
