Under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhzhia Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector of the Eastern region, a suspicion has been announced against an official of the logistics department of one of the state-owned defense enterprises for abuse of power or office, which caused serious consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the official organized the purchase of capacitors at inflated prices in the interests of a foreign company registered in the Republic of Estonia.

In March 2023, he instructed his subordinates to procure 482 units of the product. After that, he initiated the submission of a commercial proposal to this company and ensured that it was chosen as the supplier.

Knowing about the inflated prices, in April 2023, the official approved internal documents stating that the proposed price was in line with market levels. 

Based on the documents he approved, a contract was concluded between the enterprise and the foreign company, and during May–July 2023, €223,992 was transferred to the supplier.

As a result of purchasing the goods at inflated prices, the state-owned enterprise incurred losses of over 5 million UAH. Such losses are recognized as serious consequences and harmed state interests.

The court has applied a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for the suspect. The prosecutor's office has submitted a motion to the court for the selection of a preventive measure in the form of detention for the suspect.
