Reported suspicion to Russian agents who planned a series of sabotage and terrorist acts in our country

Under the procedural guidance of the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, SBU employees prevented new terrorist attacks in southern Ukraine. As a result of the special operation, two FSB agents were detained.

According to the investigation, a 38-year-old resident of the Kirovohrad region was recruited by a representative of the Russian special services via a Telegram channel, where he published pro-Kremlin comments. At the direction of his handler, the suspect arrived at a wasteland in Mykolaiv, where he discovered a homemade explosive device with remote detonation, prepared it for combat readiness, and concealed it.

Subsequently, this explosive device was used by an 18-year-old resident of Kyiv region in an attempt to carry out a terrorist act near the building of one of the RTCs and SPs in Mykolaiv. The young man was detained at the crime scene and was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist act).

The next task for the perpetrator was to find a so-called "cache" with electronic detonators (electric matches), necessary for making explosive devices. Acting on the coordinates, he arrived in the Sumy region, where he discovered hidden explosive elements, took them, and reported this to his handler.

After that, the suspect went to the Dnipropetrovsk region, where he received a new task – to gather information about the residence of a military serviceman of the TCK and SP and the vehicles he uses. The man arrived at the apartment building where the military lived, took photographs of the object, and transmitted the coordinates to the Russian handler.

The resident of the Kirovohrad region has been notified of suspicion of treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Currently, the suspect is in custody without the right to bail.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
