Two representatives of the occupation administration and a Russian officer were informed of the suspicion of torture and sexual violence against a local woman in the temporarily occupied territory

Prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General have reported suspicions against two senior operatives of the illegal law enforcement agency known as the "State Security Service of Zaporizhzhia Region" for committing criminal offenses under Part 2 of Article 28 and Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely for cruel treatment of the civilian population, committed by a group of individuals in conspiracy, which constitutes a violation of the laws and customs of war.

At the same time, in May of this year, a Russian military officer was reported as a suspect for committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, at the end of November 2022, representatives of the occupation authorities and Russian special services detained the victim at her place of residence in the Vesele community of the Melitopol district. She was taken to the premises of the so-called "police station," created by the occupiers based on the local police department, where she was held illegally.

The next day, the suspects – representatives of the occupation authorities – arrived at the cell. They interrogated the woman, demanding that she confess to collaborating with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the interrogations, the suspects, realizing that they were dealing with a civilian, used physical and psychological violence.

One of them struck the victim on the ears with his hands for 15 minutes, causing physical pain and moral suffering.

Another threatened her with torture and rape, stating that he would take her to a colony where imprisoned women would rape her.

Such actions were repeated multiple times during several interrogations.

Later, at the end of November 2022, representatives of the occupation structures detained the woman again and took her to the so-called "filtering point," where she was handed over to servicemen of the Russian armed forces.

Among them was the commander of a unit from the 4th Guards Military Base of the 58th Guards Army of the Southern Military District of Russia.

He illegally held the victim in a private house that he occupied during the occupation and systematically raped her for three days.

Two collaborators and a Russian officer have been reported as suspects for cruel treatment of the civilian population.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Currently, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and necessary investigative actions are being carried out.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
