It was reported that the former "commander" of the illegal armed formation "LPR" was suspected of inhumane treatment of a Ukrainian prisoner of war

According to the investigation, the suspect, who held the position of the so-called "commander of the 6th Guards Separate Motorized Rifle Cossack Regiment of the LPR," along with other subordinates, tortured a Ukrainian prisoner of war in June 2022 in the territory of temporarily occupied Pervomaisk in Luhansk region.
The prisoner was beaten on the head and torso, humiliated, and intimidated. The suspect cut off both of his ears, pretending to cut them off, and then carved the letter "Z" on his forehead - a symbol of Russian aggression.
His actions have been classified as cruel treatment of prisoners of war, committed by a group of individuals (part 1 of article 28, part 1 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The punishment for this crime is imprisonment for a term of 8 to 12 years.
Currently, the issue of declaring the suspect wanted is being resolved. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
Under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Investigative Department of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
