Under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces has been notified of suspicion in absentia — the commander of a combat unit of the Black Sea Fleet submarine, who is involved in missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine. He is charged under part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason.
The 30-year-old lieutenant captain is a native of the village of Kotsiubynske in the Bucha district of Kyiv region. In 2012, he entered the Nakhimov Naval Academy in Sevastopol.
According to the investigation, the suspect served in the navigation unit of the 4th separate submarine brigade of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation and was responsible for navigation, submarine control, and plotting combat courses. It is from these submarines that the enemy launches Kalibr cruise missiles at Ukrainian cities.
After the temporary occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in the spring of 2014, the suspect did not arrive at his new place of study and service in Odesa, but voluntarily switched to the side of the aggressor state and continued his service in the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
He currently holds the position of commander of combat unit No. 1 of the 636.3 "Varshavyanka" class submarine of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, which the enemy uses for massive missile strikes on Ukraine.
It has also been established that the suspect provided Russian special services with personal data and information about the whereabouts of pro-Ukrainian citizens who were in Sevastopol and in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea.
Crimes against the foundations of national security have no statute of limitations, so measures are being taken to hold the suspect accountable.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the SBU investigators in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv region.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and confirmed by a court verdict.
