Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office, another participant in the scheme of embezzling 1.8 million budget funds allocated for the capital repair of the buildings of the State Emergency Service in the Ternopil region has been notified of suspicion. 

The pre-trial investigation established that in 2022-2023, two entrepreneurs, acting together with three officials of the State Emergency Service, decided to embezzle budget funds allocated for the capital repair of administrative premises and buildings of the State Emergency Service in the Ternopil region. 

They involved a technical supervision engineer in their activities. As a result, he, without verifying the volume of materials used and the quality and volume of the actual work performed, signed the acts of completed work.  

As a result, the entrepreneurs misappropriated 1.8 million UAH of budget funds. The interests of the state, represented by the Emergency Rescue Unit of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Ternopil region, suffered damage amounting to 1.8 million UAH. 

The engineer has been notified of suspicion of aiding in the misappropriation of someone else's property by abusing his official position, under martial law, committed in particularly large amounts by an organized group (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

We remind you that in June of this year, other participants in the scheme — two entrepreneurs — were notified of suspicion of misappropriating someone else's property by abusing their official position, under martial law, committed in particularly large amounts by an organized group (Part 2, Part 5 of Article 27, Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Currently, the issue of applying a preventive measure to the suspect is being resolved. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the investigators of the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations located in the city of Lviv.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
