Law enforcement officers stopped a large -scale drug selling scheme - five of its participants were detained in Cherkasy region

Prosecutors of the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with investigators and operatives of the Drug Crime Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Cherkasy Oblast, uncovered a group of individuals consisting of four residents of Cherkasy and a resident of Poltava Oblast, who had established a large-scale scheme for the sale of drugs and psychotropic substances in Ukraine.

They administered Telegram channels through which they accepted orders and sold the "goods." These were sent to clients by mail, and they also made "drops," the coordinates of which were provided to buyers. To disguise their drug trafficking, the participants used dozens of SIM cards with different numbers and bank cards of fictitious persons for money transfers.

During searches, law enforcement officers discovered and seized about 3 kg of cannabis, 2 kg of mephedrone, 86 MDMA pills – ecstasy, 1 kg of amphetamine, as well as cash amounting to 217,000 UAH and more than 8,000 USD. Additionally, scales, packaging, phones, bank cards, and handwritten notes were seized.

The participants of the scheme were detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. They were informed of suspicion under Part 1-3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — the sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and especially dangerous psychotropic substances in especially large amounts.

At the request of the prosecutor's office, the court has taken four suspects into custody without the right to bail, while another was assigned a preventive measure in the form of bail.

Pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is ongoing.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
