The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with the police, exposed the former head of the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in the Sumy region and the deputy director of a limited liability company, who, by prior agreement, embezzled budget funds.

According to the investigation, under the concluded contract, the company was commissioned by the Service to carry out construction work on a fortification structure of defense lines. Despite the fact that the contractor used damaged corrugated steel for the work, he reflected it in the acts of completed work. At the same time, the director of the Service was fully aware that materials that did not meet technical conditions were used in the construction, yet he instructed to transfer funds for the completed work.

According to the expert conclusion, the amount of damages is nearly 1.4 million UAH.

They were notified of suspicion under part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The deputy director of the LLC is also charged under part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Sumy District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region in cooperation with the Strategic Investigations Department in the Sumy region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
