The Transcarpathian Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the Defense Sector of the Western Region has registered a criminal proceeding regarding the failure of a serviceman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to appear at his place of duty to take up his post at the "Uzhhorod" checkpoint.

The preliminary legal qualification is part 5 of Article 407 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Currently, all circumstances of the incident and the whereabouts of the soldier are being established. The version regarding his possible illegal crossing of the Ukrainian-Slovak border and the reasons for such an act is also being verified.

At the same time, the command of the border detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has ordered a service investigation to be conducted.

The pre-trial investigation has been entrusted to the investigators of the Lviv Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
