The activity of an organized criminal group has been discontinued: Drugs were seized for over UAH 3.5 million

Prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, together with employees of the Criminal Investigation Department, the Investigative Department, and other police units of Kyiv region, documented the activities of an organized criminal group that had been engaged in the production and sale of narcotic and psychotropic substances for a long time.

According to the investigation, a 43-year-old organizer, along with accomplices, had been producing and selling psychotropic substances for about ten years. To do this, they set up a drug laboratory in a private premises in the Kyiv region. In it, they produced amphetamine and marijuana, which were sold in the cities of Yahotyn, Beryazhn, (Kyiv region) and partially in the Poltava region.

On October 12 of this year, law enforcement conducted 75 simultaneous searches in Kyiv, Kyiv, and Poltava regions.

During the searches, the following were seized: 1.5 kg of amphetamine; 3 kg of marijuana; 200 liters of methyl ethyl ketone precursor; 1 kg of 1-phenyl-2-nitropropene precursor; weapons, mobile phones, bank cards, vehicles, and cash.

The value of the seized substances on the "black" market exceeds 3.5 million UAH. The estimated monthly profit from illegal trafficking could exceed 2 million UAH.

Five individuals were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Eight individuals were notified of suspicion under: Part 2, 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal production, manufacture, and sale of narcotic substances) and Part 2 of Article 311 (illegal acquisition and storage of precursors).

The sanctions of the articles provide for punishment in the form of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
