Prosecutors of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office have sent an indictment to the court against four individuals who misappropriated funds collected for the needs of the army at their discretion. They are charged under Part 3 of Article 201-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

It has been established that a 27-year-old head of a charitable organization collected money on social media allegedly for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. To transfer the funds, he provided the details of his card and the cards of three acquaintances who had no connection to volunteer activities and acted without any powers of attorney or contracts.

Over two years, the accomplices collected 12 million 535 thousand UAH. 

Of this amount, they spent 4 million 685 thousand UAH on personal needs — entertainment, dining at restaurants, and jewelry. 

In June 2025, they were exposed by law enforcement officers.

The pre-trial investigation has been completed by investigators of the Investigative Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Sumy region in cooperation with employees of the Strategic Investigations Department in the Sumy region under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor's office.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
